The Human Etch a Sketch

After the long holiday season I was looking forward to getting back to some class work. In 06 I had done two courses one in dreamweaver and the other in flash. I had decided that it wasnt that bad and I thought that I should take 4 courses this semester. At the moment im enrolled in D.W.,Flash,HTML and Java. Yes I know some of you uber geeks are like dumbass I learned that in grade 9! And im kicking myself now for not keeping up with the html.

So It feels like I have a mountain of work to do in the near future. Which brings me to another program that I am becomming more familiar with. OUTLOOK! I swore to myself not to delve to deep into any microsoft programs but i really think i need to learn this one to keep me organized and ontop of things.
Java seems "fun" pretty self directed. Here is the readings and make something. Dunno what environment I should be running though havent figured that out yet... Any recommendations?

Sometimes when Im working really hard on something and then done. I get a wierd feeling Like ok... what next?!

Took 5 days off last week to complete my dreamweaver and Flash classes and exams on sunday. Each day was spent waking up and getting a 3 shot of espresso and working till i sleep. Finished the exams on sunday. Overall i feel good about what I have learned. But I coulda tried harder on the flash assignment.

Its a toss up for me to pursue flash... On one hand Im a creative and would like to make images move on the web. But on the other hand I really dont think alot of flash is beneficial and or adds to the betterment of content on a web page. Something to think about before next semester anyways...

The graphic project that im working on right now... First of all im doing this for free! Basicaly Ive put alot of time into it already! And I feel as if im being taken advantage of or they just dont respect that i Had to take a week off to do my own stuff. You know ohh can we stop in for 15 min to tweak some stuff. I grudginly agree knowing that it will take an hour and a half. Some people have no clue how long things take. I really dont want to be bothered again while they sit there and look over my shoulder and tweak the wording. Do that before I even put it into a PSD people.

Enough of the short rant.

As far as gifts go this year. My Aunt had given us a portfolio that my dad had done when he was in elementary school. I guess my grandmother had given it to her for who knows why? Anyways its full of fun little drawings alot of them super detailed alot better than some of the crap people were doing in our Highschool art classes.
So ive scanned it all in. And what im going to do is a mash-up of all the drawings that he had done. And make a poster/artpiece so that my brother and sister can have copies too. What i hope to do in the new year is get a mac, after effects and final cut and actually start making a short of all the artwork that he had done over the period of his life. Ive got a bunch of tapes that I really have to get digitized of him singing in gaelic that ill mix into it.

All in all even beginning to scan and edit the basic images has been quite an emotional process. Its good like im spending a bit of time with him again and getting to know him. And it makes me proud to know that I am his son.

This is probably going to be a major undertaking on my behalf and a lot of learning. But it may make a good college application if I decide for next fall.

So in the future Ill probably be posting more on this subject possibly dedicate this page to this. as ive made it a mission to make a movie with this content to Bring a part of my father alive again.

Nights are getting way too long. And im looking way to pale. Gotta go to a tanning booth or something.

Other Creative Stuff.
Ive got a good business card and poster to layout. Its been alota work and a lotta thought thrown into. Unfortunately im doing this for next ta nothing. But at least i get to be creative for once. Ill post my results when im done. Im really happy the way that things are turning out.

I've got a real hard-on art nouveau lately. Trying to build some sorta personal style from it.

Class
Ive been neglecting my 2 final assignments and exams next week for the above. Luckilly im taking a good part of next week of to do that stuff. Its gonna take a while. Im kinda picky when im doing dreamweaver and flash.

Life.
Is good. Bulk food store here is great!;> No more going into Kingston for supplies. Hopefully planning a trip torn for #1 Amsterdam #2 Rome #3 Vancouver if we are on the cheap. We will go in march which just happens to be our one decade anniversary.

So much to learn so little time. Id love to learn after effects and some 3d modelling.
but work cuts into way too much of that. Id love to work part time! and take school instead. Have collegues instead of bosses.

Weekend was busy! Did some hand sketches for some berm planting. Not used to drawing by hand anymore. Gives me really bad arm cramps. That was a 4 hr job!

Sat night I was supposed to go to a halloween party but missed it. Stayed at my moms in Kingston instead. Sunday morning was a top secret mission. Then off to my grandparents 60th anniversery. So much fammilly there. 60 years is a really long time.

For the last few nights have been spent watching ultra man with devon. Show is great for a few minutes before I fall asleep. Devon loves it so were hooked. Dreamweaver and Flash courses are alright... Im stuck on some of the flash stuff though. Instructor is a bit of a wiener too. I liking dreamweaver more. Im feeling alot less stressed lately about alot of things. But with this low light it has been sending me into a mood.

Devo and I are going to look at a house with my mom tonight that has been on the market for a while... We shall see how it turns out. Nice Brick with board and batton. at the end of a street. Small though. But who needs kids for a while. Thats what cats and dogs are for right?

Xbox 360 rules! Call of duty is alright cept it gets a lil boring after a while cause there are no power ups or crazy guns. I always play the germans!

Ive got a time machine and ive seen the trolls! Its parked behind my house and it sits right inside the Royal Hotel. Dance under the gravitron like lights and watch the trolls come out. Don't drop any bottles on the floor or you'll be sent right back to 2006!

The weekend started off with a bang bang on friday with our Cowboys and Ninja's party, as a going away party for Nell.
me not telling anybody that it was a ninjas included party I was the only ninja.

Too much fireball whiskey at that party! Higlights included Niall samurai sword chopping ghost cupcakes. Cats getting mauled. And Bass Stands. The party then degenerated to the royal where they played alotta rockabilly. I ended up going to the bank of Montreal to get some cash out. Bought one beer. Thats when Nell got totally crazy. I cant really tell when she's wasted but this time Man. Slurring arms flailing. And then came the dropped bottle where we were proptly told to vacate the premises. Being picton every food place was closed. So we ended up going to the IGA for some cheese and Jazz crackers. Great time that night.

Saturday was spent doing not to much hung over watching lost Season 2 on the last disk.... sad to wait a whole season till 3 is on disk. Mystery sail boat.

Sunday was spent watching lost as well. Went to Belleville checked out antiques,art, got some pants.

Thanksgiving = Way too many obligations.

Good time at taste the county on Saturday and it was twice as much as last year. Saw some toronto man freaking out at the ticket dealer sayin that Picton was so backwoods for not letting him and his baby in. But on the flyers and all the adverts it says must be 19 or older. Id hate to see that guy get drunk and fall face first on top of his newborn in the carrier. Lotsa good food and booze there but way $$$ som much so that the only locals there where exibiting. Rest were Yuppies.

Drank like a madman that night at acoustic and then the Royal! I love the royal. feels like the starwars cantena. Where you can watch the crustations of picton crawl around drunk. Supposedly there are some secret rooms there. I gotta check em out next time.

Met up with Devo at 4:00 am after her crazy day at work. and slept only 3 hours woke up drunk and drove to kingston. Listened to the familly yap. Saw my brothers Steve Vai signiture guitar and laughed my face off at it. Ugliest guitar ever! Had dinner there. and then a quick nap. then off with devo's parents to her brothers place where I almost hurled in their subaru. Listened to their familly Yap till 10:30 and headed home. Sorry for not giving anyone a call when i was down :<

Monday woke up did some chores for my mom and headed home to watch some lost season 2. Ohh this is getting interesting.

Last weekend was a truly great weekend! Thanks for having us over Scott and Maryanne! Lots of sushi and sake! Great resturaunt. Saturday night I dont think i coulda done anything but play d&d I was still really tired from the night before. Good to finally have a real night out though. People here that we consider friends dont really go out at all or drink for that matter. So its good to get out every once in a while and have a bender to some good music and dancing.

Speaking of drinking good music and dancing. Purdy excited about the Allnighter/Rally eventhough my scoot hasnt been running in a coupla months. May just go for friday night.I've been Practicing my floor work with talc! Watch out kids you havent seen nothing at brixton's... Hopefully the soul is a bit more uptempo if ya know what i mean! I want it turned from 33 rpm to 45!

I retract the last post! we are making it to ottawa for friday night

Things are going pretty well/crazy for me lately. Ive picked up a decent raise at my full time job and I have got signed onto doing graphic design for flood maps for a boardgame. As well last night I picked up 3 major landscape design jobs with a custom home builder with many more down the pipeline.

Lotsa tight deadlines with 14hr+ days.

Ive been working my face off in and out of work. To eventually save for a house so i can settle down and have a house full of animals and free range kids.

Devon is set on getting a doppleganger house. One that just blends in with all the rest.

I on the other hand am in the oportunity to have some trading of my design services for some custom house design and build work.
I am in the notion of build it while your young and can do those things. And live in the thing for a really long time...

So Picton is getting better for us all the time.

on another similar note our roof is leaking at our house after the major rain storm. Rain Rain go away!

Been busy lately. Devons got an upcoming art festival in toronto that im doing all the promo materials for. Cd portfolio, Cd case, Business card and post cards. pretty Im pretty darn handy with photoshop and illustrator and ive just started to learn Indesign.

Im starting to get it really slowly... And this work is taking forever. So im not resting as often as im used to! Ive read lately that people that sleep less and do more are generally more sucessfull and get more done! So ill give it a shot. (but have my serious doubts.)

Skate Park Creations for Providing me with a wire frame model for this!





At the moment we are trying to get a site for this park. The most

desireable place in picton is along Hwy 49 beside the crystal palace.

This rendering took me 25 hours to do... I had to get rid of 2

buildings that are in the way, add new fencing, adjustment layer for

green grass. Texture the model and add graffiti and skaters. I had to

model all of our existing equipment and add it to the botom left.





I really dig this park cause its got a whole separate grind/box area.

Please note I had to shrink it down quite alot. most of these trannies

are 6'+





So at the moment im writing a proposal to fight our case against the fairboard and to win them over.
